FOR MOHAWK INDUSTRIES

Takes Over Position Vacated By Retiring Perillo

DALTON (June 6, 2007)—James T. Lucke has been named Vice President and General Counsel for Mohawk Industries.  He succeeds Sal Perillo, who is retiring.

Lucke began his career with the law firm of Quarles and Brady in Milwaukee, a national firm where he specialized in corporate law. From there, he became the Corporate Counsel for Case Corporation, a leading manufacturer of farming and construction equipment. He then spent eight years at Johnson Controls’ Battery Division (which markets DieHardâ, Interstateâ, Duralastâ and Energizerâ), rising to the position of General Counsel.  Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Spectrum Brands (formerly Rayovac) in Atlanta, an organization with $3 billion in worldwide sales.

Lucke earned his undergraduate degree at Notre Dame and then completed his legal education at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

“The broad base of Jim’s legal knowledge and his experience in a culture of rapid growth, multiple acquisitions, patent protection and international matters make him an ideal fit at Mohawk,” said Jeff Lorberbaum, Chairman and CEO of Mohawk Industries, who noted that Mohawk conducted an exhaustive recruitment process to fill the General Counsel position.  “As Mohawk has evolved into a total flooring company with distinct business segments and manufacturing in multiple countries, our need for legal expertise on a constantly expanding set of issues has grown exponentially. I feel confident that Jim will add depth to our existing team of talented attorneys and provide the counsel we need as we move forward.”

Lucke’s offices will be at the Mohawk Corporate headquarters in Calhoun, GA.
